5 Kingdom Laws that apply to Kingdom citizens in the Marketplace

The following are 5 Kingdom Laws that apply to Kingdom citizens in the Marketplace. This is not meant to be an exhaustive list. Rather it is a starting point.

1. The law of priority
  • Mt 6:33, Luk 12:22-34, Deut 28:13
  • This law guides decisions i.e. your decisions are guided by your priorities.
  • Your location is important. Do you decide where to live based on the Kingdom or on salary?
2. The law of the inner image,
  • Proverbs 23:7, Luke 6:45, Proverbs 13:20
  • Never settle with and employee/slave mindset; you must have an entrepreneurial spirit even on your job.
3. The law of faithfulness,
  • Matthew 25:23, 1 Corinthians 4:2, Matthew 24:32-51
  • A faithful man abounds with blessings.
  • Your faithfulness will determine the depth or measure of the blessing that you enjoy.
4. The law of seedtime and harvest,
  • Mar 4:26, Gen 8:22, Ecc 11:6
  • Your seed (words, money, time) will determine your future.
  • Sow the right seeds now for the future that you desire.
5. The law of difference
  • Jer 1:5, Rom 8:28, Psa 139:14
  • Until you embrace your difference (i.e. what makes you unique) you cannot maximize your strengths.
  • You need to discover you, develop/refine you, deploy you.
In any nation of the world, when you are found guilty of disobeying laws, your rights as a citizen are limited as part of your punishment. Likewise if you are guilty of violating Kingdom laws then your results in the marketplace will be limited. Your success as a believer in the marketplace will be determined by your commitment to be a law abiding citizen of the Kingdom!

The Kingdom is Your Priority

In Mt 6:33, Jesus gives us a description of how we ought to live as Kingdom citizens. God expects us to make His Kingdom our priority. God's promise is that all the things that you desire will be yours once you prioritize the Kingdom of God in your life. Jesus is saying to you and I that rather than chasing material things we should seek the Kingdom and material things will be given to us.

You may be asking what does it mean to prioritize the Kingdom? This is a great question because I believe that many people don't really grasp what prioritizing the Kingdom is all about.

When the Kingdom is your priority then you see all things through the lens of the Kingdom e.g. you test your decisions based on how those decisions will impact your commitment to the Kingdom.

When the Kingdom is your priority then your life is built around the things of the Kingdom e.g. attending and serving at a local assembly, sowing financial seeds towards Kingdom projects, etc.

One practical way of testing your priorities is to evaluate your schedule and your budget. If I see your schedule and your expense report I can tell what your priorities are. Do you set aside and hold time on your calendar for Kingdom activities, and then add other activities to your calendar in such a way that they do not impact your Kingdom commitments?

In Luk 12:22-34, we are given a picture of what God expects from us as Kingdom citizens. In verse 28, it is clear that one of the reasons why believers don't prioritize the Kingdom is because their faith tank is low. If you truly had faith in the fact that God will provide for you, then you will not hesitate to obey God's command to prioritize His Kingdom.

Luk 12:33 issues a challenge to each of us. Jesus instructs us that the Kingdom must be precious to us. He likens that things of the Kingdom to treasure. Are you willing to give up all that you have for the sake of the Kingdom? How precious is the Kingdom to you? Again in Mt 13:44-46, Jesus illustrates how precious the Kingdom should be to us. If a man will sell all he has in order to buy a valuable pearl, how much more should you and I do for the Kingdom? I will tell you the answer: much more!

Have you ever seen a man or woman addicted to drugs e.g cocaine, marijuana, etc.? He is ready and willing to sell anything he has including his own family just to get the next dose of drugs. He is that fixated on the next dose. He lives his life as though he would die if he failed to get that next dose. You and I must be so addicted to the Kingdom to the point that we have the Kingdom on our minds all the time.

Becoming a Kingdom citizen also comes with an associated lifestyle. There is a style of speaking in the Kingdom. You must carry yourself as a Kingdom citizen. Punctuality, commitment, diligence and performance in your job or business are attributes displayed by citizens of the Kingdom. Kingdom citizens surround themselves with friends and mentors that will push them along in their walk with God.

What kind of music do you listen to? Where do you hang out? What do you drink? As a citizen of the Kingdom everything that you do must reflect the Kingdom.

What value do you ascribe to the Kingdom? Will you give up everything for the Kingdom? Will you answer God’s call? One things is certain if you honor God's word and obey His command to seek the Kingdom first, God will reward you and you will have all that you desire. There will be challenges on the way. However you can be guaranteed of a 100% success rate because God's word never fails (Isa 55:10-11).

The Law of Image

What a great Impartation Session last night. We learnt about the law of image. Develop the right image by meditating on the word of God. Jos 1:8. Surround yourself with the right mentors and friends so that you can continue to build and sustain the right image. Pro 13:20.

The law of image. What ever you consistently 'see' you will become. What image do you have in front of you? I see lives being impacted. I see communities restored. I see thriving businesses. I see nations being impacted by the Kingdom. I see tremendous wealth.

The Blessing

God is able to do much more than you can think or imagine. It is your season to shine. The blessing is at work

How do you judge your decisions?

As a leader you must learn to judge your decisions in your career, business or ministry throughout the lens of the Kingdom.

What is God's Plan?

That was a great time with God. We must understand God's plan for us and go out and do it. If you start doing without God's plan you will toil. If you have God's plan but don't do you will remain stagnant. It's time to work out His plan. Thank God for that word.

Perspective

Leaders always have the right perspective about situations, and never miss out on the opportunity to learn. What will God have you learn today? Learning it will be the key to your breakthrough.

Choices & Decisions

The choices and decisions that a great leader makes takes him out of his comfort zone and closer to fulfilling his purpose.

Time

Leaders always find a place and time to think. What do you do with your "spare" time? Learn to use every available time wisely.

Operating in the Blessing in the Marketplace II (business, government, education, etc.)

Acts 2:17-18.
17 ‘ And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams.
18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy
Eph 3:20.
20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

God expects us to walk in signs and wonders wherever we find ourselves including the marketplace. Sometimes we limit our expectations of the manifestations of God's power to the church building and operations. In Acts 2:17-18, Peter referred to what God said earlier through the prophet Joel. In these last days God intends to pour His power on His sons and daughters. As you operate in the marketplace - work, business, college, etc. - you will walk in the manifestation of the power of God. If you will obey the instructions of God and tap into the power that the Holy Spirit has made available, you will see and know things supernaturally. According to Eph 3:20, God is ready and able to do things that are greater than we could ever think or imagine. These great things will come into manifestation through the power of God that works through us. We must simply make ourselves available for God.
Isa 8:18.
18 Here am I and the children whom the LORD has given me! We are for signs and wonders in Israel From the LORD of hosts, Who dwells in Mount Zion.
Acts 6:8
8 And Stephen, full of faith[a] and power, did great wonders and signs among the people.

Let's look at the example of Stephen who was selected by the Apostles to handle the business end of the ministry. He was described as a man full of faith and power. The scripture records in Acts 6:8 that Stephen did great signs and wonders as he managed the business end of the ministry. Stephen was able to walk in the power of God and manifest signs and wonders amongst the people (in the marketplace) because he had a relationship with God. This is why the Bible describes him as a man of faith. So in order to walk in the power of God like Stephen did, and to do great things in the marketplace we must develop a strong relationship with God. This starts by spending time in God's presence as you read and meditate on the Word of God. As you meditate you will receive revelation from the Word. When you take a step out and act on the basis of this revelation, God's Word will manifest in your lives.

What does it mean to walk in signs and wonders in the marketplace? As a believer in the marketplace you will attain outstanding results supernaturally. Men will not be able to explain your success. You will walk in divine favor. The Bible says that you will be the head and not the tail. The key to you being above and not beneath is your attitude. You should show up at work or at college with the attitude of a champion. You should show up expecting to win in every situation. God has already made provisions for your success. You should also expect divine favor every where that you go. God will cause people to give you things and grant you access supernaturally. In Acts 6, the Bible records that when Stephen spoke the people found him to be attractive. In the same way when you speak at business or class meetings people will be drawn to you. Daniel and his friends walked in uncommon wisdom and were found to be 10 times better than anyone else. This divine wisdom is also available to you. As you tap into the divine wisdom of God solutions will flow out of you for every situation. Be prepared to amaze yourself. Be ready to heal businesses. Your God-ordained presence at a company or on a project guarantees that the company or project will be successful.

Ecc 3:13-14 NIV
14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere him.

God has already set into motion all that is needed for your success. No one can take from it or add to it. God does these things through us so that His glory will be revealed through us and that men will revere Him. So child of God there is no reason why we should not succeed or prosper in everything that we do. That is what God's Word promises us. God's Word has to become so real to us that it manifests in our lives. It must supersede anything that is going on around us. So rise up and walk in uncommon results. You are a solution and the world is waiting for you to manifest. Go forth and become all that you were created to be.

Operating in the Blessing in the Marketplace (business, government, education, etc.)

Psa 1:1-3 NKJV.
1 Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

Have you ever seen trees planted by rivers? They are evergreen. They never suffer lack or hunger. They are sturdy and strong. They do not succumb to drought or heat. The rivers bring nutrients from far and wide to the doorstep of the trees.
The blessed man is like the trees planted by the rivers of water. Everything that a blessed man does prospers. Even as things crumble in the world (famine, recession, etc.) the blessed man will not be touched. God has planted him by the rivers of never ending supply.

Psa 37:22-23 NLT.
22 Those the Lord blesses will possess the land, but those he curses will die.
23 The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.
Rom 8:28 NLT.
28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

The steps of a blessed man are ordered by God. Therefore the blessed man is not worried or concerned about anything including his business, career or job. He understands that all things are working out for his good.

Isa 43:19
19 Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.

Psa 112: 1-3 NKJV.
1 Praise the LORD! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, Who delights greatly in His commandments.
2 His descendants will be mighty on earth; The generation of the upright will be blessed.
3 Wealth and riches will be in his house, And his righteousness endures forever.

God is prepared to bless you through multiple channels - career, business, acquaintances, strangers, etc. He is ready and able to supply all the resources - human, financial, etc. - that you need irrespective of where you are. The success of the blessed man is already assured.

Matt 6:33 NKJV.
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

How do you access the fullness of God's plans and purpose as a blessed man? The key to walking in the fullness of God's plans and purposes is to prioritize God in your life. God wants you and I to place Him and His Kingdom as priorities in our lives. Your life must be built around propagating the Kingdom all over the land. You are first a believer before you are a professional. You must learn to judge your decisions through the lens of the Kingdom, and to evaluate how your business or career decisions will impact your service in the Kingdom. It is counter intuitive to the natural mind however placing the Kingdom of God first ensures that all the things that make sense for you to naturally run after: money, promotion, business connections, contracts, etc. - will run after you.

As you prepare to start a new week remember that Jesus has already paid the price for us to walk in the blessing (Gal 3:13). The reason why the blessing is not manifested in our careers, businesses, academics, etc. is because we have not been faithful in God's agenda for the Kingdom. Make a decision today to live for the Kingdom. Prioritize the Kingdom. Place the Kingdom before your career, business or academics and watch as the blessings manifest in your life.
